Everyone and their mothers love Maggi. We've taken it to school and munched on those noodle bricks gladly. It's been our breakfast, sometimes lunch, and often our lazy dinner. With everyone having their unique recipe or method of preparing it, I decided to put my spin on it! Here's a Maggi recipe that is super quick, simple, and dare I say, better than every other Chilli Oil Maggi recipe out on the internet!

The OG Fast Food

Maggi is a cute little brand that was founded by Julius Maggi, a Swiss entrepreneur. He recognized the need for convenient, nutritious meals in the late 19th century and thus Maggi was born. Call it the original fast food, if you must.

While we associate Maggi with being a go-to snack for lazy students and tired bachelors, its actual purpose was to address the nutritional needs of factory workers who didn't have the time to cook from scratch.

For us Indians, Maggi is nearly synonymous with noodles, but the first Maggi product to hit the markets was actually a concentrated soup mix! In 1982, when Nestlé introduced Maggi to the Indian market, it noodled its way into the kitchen of every Indian household and the rest is history. To twist this age-old snack, try my version of Chilli Oil Maggi. After all, you don’t want to get bored of it, do you?

A Clever Method to Preserve Chillies Year Round!

Made by infusing vegetable oil with peppers and spices, the creation of chilli oil was a clever method to preserve out-of-season chillies. As soon as people got a taste of this concoction, they discovered its remarkable ability to take every dish, from dumplings, noodles and vegetables, to another level.

This sauce has undergone numerous transformations and regional interpretations, catering to a wide array of taste preferences. Its charm lies in its versatility and adept balancing of spice levels. In China, for instance, Sichuan peppercorns sourced from western China are often employed to impart a fiery zest to their chilli oil—a technique embraced by Chilzo as well.

Chilli Oil with Real Sichuan Peppercorns!

If you like for your meals to have a flavourful kick, then Chilzo’s Chilli Oil is about to become your kitchen's MVP. Made with a dedication to quality, this isn't your average run-of-the-mill chilli oil—it’s a taste straight from the heart of Sichuan, China. What makes our Chilli Oil stand out? We're talking real Sichuan peppercorns here, folks, and let me tell you, they're not your everyday ingredient!

A blend of overnight-soaked aromatics—garlic, cinnamon, and cloves—all chilling (not) in hot sunflower oil. The mildness of the sunflower oil perfectly complements the heat of the chilli, resulting in a condiment that is hot and a spice profile that numbs your mouth. Don’t be intimidated by the numbness though. It only means that you can eat more spicy food!

This chilli oil multitasking genius too. Use it as a dip, a marinade, or a condiment. Spruce up your eggs, rice dishes, or even a humble cucumber salad. And here's the cherry on top: no MSG, little to no I+G additives or artificial flavours—just pure, unadulterated deliciousness. It's gluten-free, sugar-free, and has absolutely zero trans fat or cholesterol. This isn't just good on everything—it's amazing!
